Ain't it a beauty? Did I mention its semi-professional???
I saw that camera once and it was like love at first sight. Thanks to Victor for introducing the camera to me. Finding this camera was an adventure itself.
It was two weeks ago when I received a call from my mom to get a digital camera. Out of the blue, with no warning at all, and I was like, "WHY??? WHAT??? HOW???" And I seized the chance to get the type of camera I want. So taking the best option available, I asked my friends. Richard directed me to Victor who at once recommended Powershot S60 to me.
We went to MidValley on the same day itself. On the way, Victor explained the model to me and compared this model to the others. To cut long story short, I was impressed.
Victor: What is your budget?
Me: No budget, unless you count the credit limit of RM10,000 of my credit card.
Victor was impressed too.
He took me to the shop at MidValley and we saw the price tag of RM2099, but we managed to get a price cut RM1840. Not bad... not bad at all... Victor said that it was a really good price and I said that I'll just have to ask my dad.
And that very day itself, my uncle (who works in Sony) called me, wanting me to buy the camera from him.
Me: Sony camera not good.
Uncle: Why? It's the best in market now.
Me: Sure, Sony's technology good, but I still prefer Canon.
Uncle: Why?
Me: Sony's Memory Stick/Card expensive.
Uncle: Got meh? Erm... ok la...
Me: Sony's battery capacity very low as too hi-tech dee.
Uncle: Aiyo, if you want the best, got to have compensation ma...
Me: Too bad. Sorry lar... But with Memory Card expensive and battery useless... who wants???
Over the weekend, I managed to get my parents to agree with the camera. And the next Monday, I told Victor my decision.
Victor: Wah???!!!! Saw the camera three days ago and so fast wan to buy already? You really great. When want to buy camera, straight away buy. So fast make up mind, not like somebody.
That somebody happens to be Richard, who has been debating whether to buy a phone or not for over 6 months. Sigh...
Anyway... as we were about to leave to get my baby on Thursday, I received a call from my dad, stating that my card had expired. So now I got no money to get the camera. DAMN!!!
And last night, my mom took me to One Utama to get the camera. Now One Utama has 4 camera shops, and I went from one shop to another.
First shop 2nd Flr:
Me: The S60, how do you sell? (I know its no grammar, but I was too used to using chinese when asking for price)
Shopkeeper: Hmm... *checks on everything* I sell it to you at RM2000.
Me: WWWWAAAAAHHHH!!!!! So expensive? Cannot cheaper?
Shopkeeper: No lar, cannot dee.
Me: And how much is your 256 CF(compact flash ie memory card for S60)?
Shopkeeper: RM190, I give you my cost price.
Me: I'll come back later. I bet you can give me a cheaper price. In Megamall they gave me RM1800.

Shopkeeper: Wait a minute. *goes check* RM1980
Me: What??? (stunned at the HIGH price)
Shopkeeper: With 256 CF along with it.
Me: Hmmm... (Did a fast calculation and deduced the the camera is RM1800 cos CF is about RM170-180)that's good.
Shopkeeper: So its ok?
Me: What type of CF you will give?
Shopkeeper: Toshiba. Very good brand.
Me: Hmmm. can I have a look.
Shopkeeper: Ok. *search around, for about 5 minutes* Oh... out of stock.
Me: And what am I supposed to get when I pay that RM1980.
Shopkeeper: Buy something else?
Me: Hmm... no can do pal. I'll tell you what... you give me another brand of CF then.
Shopkeeper: Cannot la... Boss scold.
Me: Then i'll come back later. Thanks.
4th Shop LG Flr
Me: How much is that S60?
Shopkeeper: Hmmm... the camera?
Me: Yes, the camera. I want to buy the camera.
Shopkeeper: *takes out the camera for me* Wait ah... *after a few minutes* RM1800.
Me: What??? (stunned at the LOW price)
Shopkeeper: With a 256 CF.
Me: What??? (Nearly fainted with joy)
Shopkeeper: Sorry, thats the cheapest I can give you.
Me: (Too stunned to say anything, and thinking maybe its a fluke, or a fake or sth.) Erm, this comes with warranty one year? Everything?
Shopkeeper: Yup. Everything.
Me: Paid by card you know?
Shopkeeper: Ok.
Me: I'll be right back. Promise.
And I did go back, dragging my mom along this time to sign the card. (My card expired remember?) And my mom managed to get another RM50 off. I was so embarassed, but who the hell cares.
So I left the shop a happy customer with a new Canon Powershot S60 to play with, with only a pricetag of RM1750.
Not to mention something to brag about to Victor. Hehehe...
Ok, gonna go off to lecture. Just came to blog on my little new baby.
Nobody's selling me, yet still I sit here and show off as if I'm on sale.
Must be my birth sign. I've always been very flamboyant...
