Happy Chinese New Year

The Captain and Flight Crew would like to take this opportunity to wish all passengers a Happy and Prosperous New Year.

Gong Xi Fa Chai,
Ang Pow Na Lai,
Happy New Year,
Ang Pow Bring HERE!!!

Talking about angpows... I havent come around to calculate the amount I have accumulate so far. And there is still the winnings and losings of bets and gambling that need to be balanced out.. sigh.. Hate the maths, love the money.

But I realised something. Angpows are getting bigger every year. A few years back, we used to get RM1, RM2 from our friends' parents. Now... we expect no less than RM10 from friends we barely met. I ain't no complainin bout it, no sirree. Big angpow means more money and only the giver is complaining.

What if the angpow keeps on getting bigger??? By the time I get married, a usual angpow maybe as big as RM50 to my children's friends. Shit!!! We can only hope it doesnt happen.

And this year, New Year seemed to be a little dead. Maybe it's just me growing older and no more appreciating the New Year... but the area around my house seemed to be a little quiet, which is unnerving if you expect 24 hours of bing bing bang bang of firecrackers and drums. Most probably I've grown immune to it. My house is the brightest of all houses in my area (my dad partially owns a light-manufacturing company) and sometimes it embarasses me.

But still, I don't really feel the cheer of CNY like those past years. Let's just sit back and compare and contrast this year New Year and yesteryears...
BOLD - Yesteryears Italics - This Year Normal - Comments

First Day
Wake up early. Wear new clothes. Greet parents eagerly for angpows. Go to Grandparents house to get pai nian. Go Old Folks Home to talk with old ppl.
Woke up late. Dressed in normal Tshirt and pants, hang around house playing PS2. About evening, got angpow from parents and then only changed into new clothes to go Old folks Home with grandma. Gave angpows and cabut.
Hmm... wonder what changed.

Second Day
Wear 2nd pair of new clothes to visit relatives. Jump from one house to another. Usually sit down and gamble with cousins. At home, ppl come to visit, bringing angpows. Alternate years we host CNY party.
Stay at home the whole day. Play PS2, sleep.
Pretty interesting day, eh...

Third to Fifth Day
Go visit friends. Sometimes dad brings us to his friends. Usually I go out alone with MY friends to collect angpows.
Stay at home the whole day. Play PS2, sleep.
My friends are all over the place at all four corners of the world. Shucks. Means no angpows from them this year, hehe...

Only highlight was going to PJ for dinner with Jody's parents and when Richard's mom visited.

So now u see why i do not get that new year cheer. sigh.

Watever. Signing off now...

Happy Chinese New Year to you guys out there. May the Rooster give you prosperity.

Boy, it's been a slow day. Come on. Give me a big one.
