HP, PBL, IVF, CVS, CSU - Abbreviations.
Ok, I was supposed to post it yest, but what the hell, will just post it today and add with today's blog. First of all, no updates since... since the last post, becos I am having throuble with my PC at home. So i can only update on Mon to Thur, Fri if i want to stay back to study in lib. Ewww... The word 'I' and 'STUDY' in the same sentence...*shiver*
Ok, quickly going into things. As the title suggested, my post today will talk on HP, PBL, IVF, CVS(yest's 2 lectures by DC) and CSU(just now)
First of all, HP&tPoA. I watched it right after Yee Pei did, so if you guys have read her blog you guys would know her review for it.
Major Spoilers here, guys. Those who haven't watch it, or planning to watch it, I suggest you guys to jump the next section and go on. For the rest, this is my review for the movie.
When i reached home that thurs, my dad asked me how was the movie. My reply was only 2 words: Major Disappointment. Some of you guys will protest or beg me to differ, maybe throw a tantrum (eg Premila) but I stand by my stand which is the Third Movie is a disappointment to me. Many ppl has come up to me and said that it is the best of all 3 movies... erm...I don't think so. Many has said that the new director is better...I beg to differ.
Ok, now to how I will show you that this movie sucks.
First, I will compare the 2 directors and their movies respectively.
Second, then the portrayal of the characters.
And third, major, major disappointment.
Ok, into my first point. Comparing the 2 directors, Chris Columbus(CC) and the French-whatisname-guy(French guy=FG=faggot..hehe, jus jking). CC has more interest in developing characters. He pays attention to minor minor details, show us how the characters grow with the storyline and stuff. But then CC forgets the big picture. FG, on the other hand, show more interest in the big picture... too big a picture if you ask me, forgetting totally on interesting facts and characters. He brings you round Hogwarts, shows you the grounds - a plus for the movie, but he lacks storyline developement. Jumping and rushing through major scenes, while slowing down and lagging through minor scenes.
And of cos the movie will reflect how these 2 directors think. The first 2 movies unfolds slowly and more understandable, but dreadfully lack of surroundings. It follows the book, just like how Rowling wanted it to be, making ppl understand what is clearly going on. (Even my dad could understand when he watched HP&tCoS on HBO). But the atmosphere is just not there, no magic, following the book too cloesly for its own cos. The 3rd movie has excellent cinematography(check out how the dementors loomed around, or when harry rode buckbeak on the lake) but rushes through all the scenes. FG puts in all the scenes that i think is not relevant, like taking harry for a flight down the lake, or a walk through the woods with Lupin, and leaving scenes that a impt like Crookshanks walking with Sirius or Sirius trying to attack Ron.
So it is safe to say that hopefully both CC and FG will be working together for the 4th movie. Let CC handle the storyline, and let FG handle the cinematography. That would be cool.
Me 2nd point: Characters protrayal.
The 3 main characters were excellent. No doubt about that. But then I see Draco and nearly wept with shame. That guy is a total embarassment to the whole movie. I never imagined him to be such a sissy and my fantasies were dashed to pieces at the sight of him whimpering. I like to imagine the scene where Buckbeak scratched him and he was 'crying' just to intimidate Hagrid, but the scene with Hermione, that was... no words can describe the shame. Good Lord!!! That was the only sucky point in this point. THe rest of the characters are cool, Buckbeak is cute as he should be, but I never imagined him to be so stupid. But then, I only imagine things that I like, so I'm biased. The new dumbledore looks like the old, so not much difference there.
Now the 3rd point: Major, major disappointments.
Scenes gone missing. One of my sole purpose of watching the movie is the quidditch match!!! And not any quidditch match but the quidditch finals between gryfindor and slytherin. To be able to see firebolt in action, sigh... disappointment!!! Not only did I not get to see Firebolt in action, that blardy broom only came in the end! Wahlaueh, damn a sucky right?
And Sirius Black is supposed to be a good looking guy, with sharp features and burning eyes. But what they give us? Gary Oldman, ugly, scruffy...ARGH. In PBL we were suggesting Johnny Depp to take his place. Wont it be better? With that Jack Sparrow swagger and style. But NO... Gary Oldman will have to do. The only consolation I find is that he came out really late in the movie, and I have to only see him for 2 more movies before he dies. HA!
The DADA classes, a bit longer classes will be fine. Things were going quite well with Lupin and the boggart and that funky music, but they have to cut it short. No transfiguration class, no charms, no potions... just 2 blardy classes. Sigh...
All in all, this movie is bad.
So what have I show you. 3 points that slayed open HP&tPoA and to prove my stand that this movie is a major disappointment for me. Well, about the movie being sucky, its just personal taste.
Ok, now the second post for the day. PBL which is yesterday. Has this new faci which came in as we were about to go out. Looks like a faggot(personal opinion) and graduated from IMC in 1993. Man, how old is he! Anyways, we were like ready to go with duties given out and suddenly he just appeared and start questioning us. Wow. No introduction and bam, start acting like the boss. But I will give no complains as I am a very nice girl that dont criticize ppl, no? So that's for PBL.
Then the IVF, which is Intra Varsity Friendly, and not In Vitro Fertilization like someone just said to me. I know it's supposed to be a big secret and all, but who the hell reads this blog anyway, other then you guys who are my batchmates and a few sem1s. Ppl that can be trusted. After all, you guys are my passengers and my frens, no?
Ok we were supposed to have debate training yest, but not enuff ppl(we needed 8 for BP style, we only had 7), so just sat around, read the papers and suddenly YeePei said why not have an IVF meeting right here and there. So the meeting we have. I volunteered to be treasurer as I now know that getting money out of Jody is so much easier than getting money out of YaoPeh(about to be ex-SRC treasurer). Jody don't ask so much questions, hehe. And ShuJin is *drumroll* NOT the food coordinator again. Instead, she does the logistic, which in my opinion is almost the same as being the food-girl. And the atrium was to be the finals venue, which brings us to sth that Richard said before the meeting adjourned.
Richard: Atrium is the venue, alternative venue is ventricle.
I don't know whether to laugh at the joke or cry at the lameness of it.
Now to CVS. Mainly Dhruba's lectures yesterday. I was so hyped up for the lecture(this happens like once every 2 thousand lectures, so be sure to see it.) I actually was eager to study and pay attention. Then I realised that I forgot to bring my specs, and whatever Chakra scribbled on the transperancy, me no can see. Damn sad right? So i just try to listen, and me being a very visual person, seeing nothing soon lulled me to sleep. Only to wake up at the part about atria septum formation. Suddenly only, like being struck by lightning or sth, I become damnit eager to start studying about that atria septum. Hah! Who said I can't study? I can WHEN i want to. Hrmph!
And do you guys realise that when Chakra talks, his hands got to move, and I noticed that he writes words about what his 'jokes' are about. And I also noticed that he's spelling is REALLY bad!Philosophy, Phylosophy?
And finally CSU. Just happened today. I was just telling KenJay and the female footballers yesterday that I will commit suicide if I get Tin Ong again for CSU. And since I'm here posting this and talking with you guys, you can see that I did not get Tin Ong. Hallelujah! Praise the Almighty Lord! God is GOOD! There IS a GOD!!! Instead I got Timothy Sung who was going to punish the latecomers by asking them to sing. He takes attendance and skipped over my name? Halo? He did not call out Jo En's name or Soon Liang's name, but that is ok since he knows them. But he don't know me, and I DON'T want to know him. He showed us how to do physical examination, and I asked how do you do palpation on a female patient. He said "To palpate, push the breast up. Use the paraseptum to count the ribs, don't do it over the breast." I guess it's true, but push the breast up? The heart is under the breast, no?
But the main event of CSU is what happened in the rooms. We got Archiekin, and TJ was the poor guy to get the blasting end. You should listen to the arguments, damn heated up. TJ is going to blog about it. So why not just skip over to his blog to check it out.
Ok, that is the final abbreviation of it. And is there anything else to blog about? Me no think so. And this post is pretty long already if you ask me. So I'm gonna just sign off with this quote:
