Road paved on 6:57 PM |

Finally!

Ah... finally we have settled down in our little apartment which is now pretty complete. Yup, it took us one month to find our house, to set everything up, and the final cream at the top: BROADBAND!!!

Ah... life is good.

NOT!

Some of you may know, and some of you may not know, for the first 2 weeks we were thrown into this city, I had to spend 14 nights sleeping in a room with 3 boys. Talk about lack of privacy!! But think about the money we saved!!! A room in the motel cost 65bucks per night. And we spent 13 nights in the same room. That is a saving of almost 220bucks!

Richard: Save where you can save.

And that same room had never seen housekeeping at all. Every morning before we leave, we paste a sign on the door saying PLEASE DO NOT CLEAN. We get the bedsheets from the maids and change the sheets ourselves. Bags were all over the place, Raj had to sleep on the floor, Daniel on the bunk.

And on top of that, we had to go to the hospitals, get ourselves oriented, and see crazy people (I'm in Mental Health). Not to mention going to see which houses to rent, to get ourselves oriented with the trains/buses/taxis and the streets of the City and the Suburbs.

So it was perfect when we finally found our own little place could call heaven and settle in. An apartment (don't have to bother with lawns and maintenance) rented to us by a landlord who is our FOC handman (he changes our locks, cupboards, switches, windows) who is kind enough to throw in a fridge for us for free. We rented a car during one weekend, drove down to Ikea and bought our beds and furnitures. A little indulgence in two rocking chairs and a TV did not hurt much either. It was pretty easy to just forget the 2.7RM exchange rate and just spend. So it just took us four days to have our beds and furnitures all set up, and wah la, a little plot of heaven to call our own.

Can't complain much, even when I have to share a bathroom and a toilet with 3 guys. Every early morning have to wake up to 'stake the claim', and the bathroom being so far from MY bedroom, I am always last. Haha. I am so used to not wearing my pants in the toilet but on the dry floor and privacy of my room, I found it strange to be wearing just a towel around my waist (with my shirt on, duh) and pad off to my room while passing the dining room where the guys would be digging into breakfast.

But you know what is the great about having 3 boys in the house? It makes it easier for me to walk home with groceries as I have 3 strong boys to carry the heaviest stuff for me. Haha.

So this is just to update you guys that I am back online, and soon will be leading you to another walk through the 1 month I have spent walking through the streets of Brisbane. I'll wait for the weekend to arrive and to get away from the crazy lot of people I see everyday and then I'll sit myself down and blog.
