Road paved on 3:13 AM |

Christmas is here...

On the 12th day of christmas, my true love (who?) gave to me:

12 fantasy books
11 fiction books
10 UMDs
09 Original Comics
08 Holidays*
07 Quad-core PCs
06 PSPs
05 Diamond Rings
04 Playstation 3
03 Sony Bravia X
02 Sports Car (Lamborghini & Ferrari)
And a mansion on a hilltop in France.

*Mauritus, Seychelles, Caribbeans, Madagascar, Alaska, Japan, Brazil, Switzerland

Seriously, the 12 days of christmas song really alludes me. What is it trying to tell us other than to be materialistic and wanting? Hmm... or maybe I interpreted it wrong. I think.

First of all, who said Christ was actually born on 25th of Dec???!!! It was never written anywhere in the Bible. And it is nigh impossible for the birth of Christ to happen in winter as the shepherds were out in the fields with their flocks. And a bit of Wiki-ing revealed that the Roman Catholic had a hand in this one (as usual, haha). Ancient 25th Dec was actually a day pagans worship the sun-god or something like that, so the Pope decided to use the birth of Christ as a reason to temp down this pagan worships (Misuse of trust, sigh... the Roman Catholics!!!). So many protestants actually dimmed celebrating Christmas as a crime... but I say, what the hell?!! It is just a day to celebrate the birth of Christ. It is just a symbol, so play along dudes.

Me: Merry Christmas
Guy in Church: Oops, we don't celebrate Christmas.
Me: Oh... so when do you celebrate the birth of Christ?
GiC: Every Sunday.

Which is superbly true and I totally agree. But then, what is Easter for again? Again, no one is pretty sure when Christ died, it was just approximate too. And yet we all celebrate Easter. When we celebrate Christmas, we are just celebrating the birth of Christ, likewise, we celebrate Easter because we celebrate the death of Christ.

Christmas was supposed to celebrate the birth of Christ, yet leave it to the Americans to destroy that and build an illusion of greed and a fat man who is over a thousand years old with a BMI of over 40 and yet had no history of cardiovascular disease. And a slave-driver to boot. He has elves working for him 365 days a week, with no pay, no life, just slaving away making presents for all the greedy children in the world.

The real Saint Nicholas was Dutch and he gave money away for dowries or something like that, if my memory serves me right. But too bad kids this day don't get to be taught these things. They are brought up thinking about writing letters and getting stuff (I admit, I was a kid once too. At least I grew up). Well, at least there is an initiative to be good all year round *grin*. Oh, and I found out, Santa Claus is pretty tech-savvy too. Now there is an email address which kids can email their letters too. Sigh... kids these days.

Anyways, it's Christmas and I'm home alone doing nothing but rolling around in bed. Sigh, I need to get a life. Ok, let's go make love to my PSP again.

Warping the minds of men and shepherding the masses has always been your church's domain. You lure sheep with empty miracles and a dead god.

Tag, you're IT!

Got tagged by Kanishah. This tag has been around for pretty long, so decided to give it a go. Basically is you put your library songs on shuffle and see what songs come up to answer the questions. So here goes:

1. How am I feeling today?
Shuffle says: Single Action from Metal Gear Ac!d 2 OST
Comments: Hmm... well, it is a holiday. And I want to be alone to finish playing FFXII. So... single action for today maybe.

2. Where will I get married?
Shuffle says: When You're in Prison by Offspring.
Comment: WHAT!!! I'll get married in prison? Hopefully there is a town named Prison.

3. What is my best friend's theme song?
Shuffle says: Il Porco Rosso
Comment: The Crimson Pig... ROTFLMAO. This is a lovely instrumental piece by Joe Hisaishi for the Studio Ghibli's work of the same name. If not for the title, it would suit her pretty well. Haha.

4. What was high school like?
Shuffle says: A Closed-off City from The Shadows of Colussus OST
Comment: That is high school for me. A closed-off place far away from the rest of the world. Me and my own world which consists of friends and boring school work.

5. What is the best thing about me?
Shuffle says: Jesus Generation by United Lives
Comment: I have to say that being the daughter of Christ would be the best thing about me. Mwahaha.

6. How is today going to be?
Shuffle says: Tribal Wars from Black Hawk Down OST
Comment: Uh-oh... bad sign. Tribal means within the family. War??!!! Better go hide now.

7. What is in store for this weekend?
Shuffle says: Derris-Karlan ~fear~ from Tales of Symphonia OST
Comment: The word FEAR is enough of an indication. Things are not going well.

8. What song describes my parents?
Shuffle says: Hallelujah Chorus by Handel
Comment: What?! Well, it is thanks to them that I am here. And so pretty apt. But Hallelujah?!

9. How is my life going?
Shuffle says: And Your praise goes on by Chris Rice
Comment: I'm living my life praising God for not being in trouble. So my life is still a testimony.

10. What song will they play at my funeral?
Shuffle says: Yodelling Song from the Sound of Music OST
Comment: *big sweatdrop* Shepherds and goatherds from Austria yodelling my funeral march. Need to go find the lyrics to see what they are yodelling about.

15. What should I do with my life?
Shuffle says: The Hand reaching out to the Sky Above from Wild Arms 4 OST
Comment: Yes, always reaching out to th sky. Yes, that is what I'm going to do with my life. I'll either be a pilot, astronaut or grow taller. Haha, or taking it metamorphically... I'll continue reaching up to the highest dreams.

16. Will I ever have children?
Shuffle says: Sexy, Naughty, Bitchy by Tata Young
Comment: Ooookaay. I'm going to be sexy, naughty, bitchy... meaning I'll sleep around? *narrow eyes* Or I'm so sexy, naughty, bitchy that I'll never have any kids? *hopeful grin* Or my kids are going to be sexy, naughty and bitchy? God forbid!

17. What is some good advice?
Shuffle says: Dou Shi Ni by Guang Liang
Comment: Translated 'Because of You' or 'You la'. Yes, use that three words as an excuse to escape any of your guilt.
Accuser: Why this happen?
Answer: Dou Shi Ni

18. What do I think my current theme song is?
Shuffle says: Bisaido Island from Final Fantasy X OST
Comment: I love this song. It reflects a beautiful tropical island with the sea breeze and lovely crashing of breakers. Perfect for me. I'll see you in this island any time, friends. It is a lovely place for me.

19. What does everyone else think about my current life?
Shuffle says: The Beginning and the End from Xenosaga 2 OST
Comment: I have to say no comments. Because there is truly nothing to say. My current life is a beginning and an end? You guys do the thinking for me. This is too philosophical for a day on a beautiful island.

20. What type of men do you like?
Shuffle says: Maybe I'm a Lion from Final Fantasy VIII
Comment: I was crossing my fingers to get Balthier's Theme from Final Fantasy XII. Instead I got Squall's Theme from FFVIII. Not to bad. My man is a fearless dude who is cold and taciturn. Hey, I love those kind of men.

21. Will you get married?
Shuffle says: Bounce-o-Rama from Kingdom Hearts II OST
Comment: Bounce bounce bounce. What does that tell you? Will I get married? This song is played where my character bounces on balloons to imitate Tigger from Winnie the Pooh. Well, if I ever get married, I hope my marriage is not like those balloons.

22. What should I do with my love life?
Shuffle says: Deep Forest from Inuyahsa OST

23. Where will you live?
Shuffle says: Feel by Robbie Williams
Comment: I hope there is a town named Feel, because there is not way I'm living in a world of feely, touching people. Taking the lyrics into context... I love this song. "I just wanna feel!!! I don wanna die, but I am not keen on living either."

24. What will your dying words be?

Road paved on 12:54 AM |

Twas the week after...

Yes, it has been a whole week after the submission of my dissertation (a fancy word for thesis) and what have I been doing for the past one week?!

Berbond-bond with Balthier aka Ffamran Demen Bunansa.

Who? you may ask. And I will tell you that he is the most dashing man I have ever met in my young life. Imagine Captain Jack Sparrow with a British accent and instead of a drunken swagger, a confident arrogant stride, and you have imagined Captain Balthier, sky-pirate of the skies of Ivalice, the prodigal son of the noble House Bunansa of Archadia.

Who? you might ask again.
And I will finally shake my head at your great loss of not knowing the leading man (as he proclaimed himself to be) of Final Fantasy XII. And if you guys don't know what is FFXII, tell me and I will jump out over the balcony of my two-storey house.

Ok, Balthier is not the main character of the game, but the main character is a sissy good for nothing observer that is so annoying.
"He is a wannabe" - Sabrina
Maybe I haven't finish the game, so I won't know his real role yet, but so far he is a great disappointment (I am almost at the end of the game) compared to the coolness of Cloud Strife and Squall Leonhart. Even monkey Zidane Tribal and the pussy Tidus made a better main character than Vaan. Bleah...

@TZ: Will he remain just an observer through the rest of the game?!! DON'T tell me.

So I am having fun with Balthier right now... for 7 straight days, I've been going on quests and levelling up and trying to save Damalsca from the evil clutches of Vayne Solidor, dictator of Archadia. I'm currently hunting and hoping to level up the sissy Vaan. Haha.

If you guys are interested to read up about Final Fantasy XII, just wiki for it. Hell, just click here.

If you guys are lazy, I'll summarise it:
The story of Final Fantasy XII is set in the world of Ivalice in an age where "magic was commonplace" and "airships plied the skies, crowding out the heavens". It is a time of war, the great Archadian empire plans to invade the Rozarrian empire and the Kingdom of Damalsca lies between the two opposing forces. And so our story begins in Rabanestra, capital of the Damalsca, two years after Damalsca was occupied by Archadia.

My characters:

1. Vaan is a Hume (Ivalice word for Human) street urchin. He is the boy I control, the observer wannabe-sky pirate whose brother was killed during the Archadian invasion of Dalmasca and the brother was the only witness of the death of the King of Damalsca. He has very strange six packs. Just check the picture. A bit of a girl girl too. Sissy.
Vaan

2. Ashe B'nargin Dalmasca, a 19-year-old Hume princess, sole heir to the throne of Damalsca. She faked her death after Archadia conquered Dalmasca and joined the resistance (insurgents) force. Her husband, Prince Rasler of Nabradia was killed in the war, but somehow she stills see him everywhere. Hallucinating princess. Haha. The husband very cute. Got baby face.
Lady Ashe. What is with Square Enix and clothes that covers nothing?

And this is her cute husband who died right at the beginning of the game. Not fair.

3. Basch Fon Ronsenberg, a36-year-old Hume. Former Captain in the Dalmascan Order of Knight who was supposed to be hung for the assassination of the Dalmascan king. But actually it was the twin brother. A bit bodoh of a twist. I never like stories with twins involved. Sounds too easy.
Basch

4. Balthier, Ffamran Demen Bunansa. Only 22-year-old. A sky pirate with a Viera partner, Fran. No need anymore introduction. My favourite male character to date. Suave, cool, a pirate.
"You are a pirate, aren't you? Then steal me." - Ashe, Final Fantasy XII.
Oh yeah, steal me too.

5. Fran. A Viera. What is a Viera u ask? Check the picture. A playboy bunny with clothes that are meant to cover nothing. Haha. Hell, there is a whole village of them walking about.
"I need to play that game" - Raj.
This is Fran.
This is Fran's sister in a very see-through lingerie.

6. Penelo, another Hume who is a friend of Vaan. I think she loves him. Hmm. I have no idea what the hell is she doing as my team. Betul betul no contribution to the story line other than jaga-ing vaan from getting out of hand.
Penelo

Back to the storyline.
If any of you have played, read about, heard about Final Fantasy, every since FFVIII (eight), love as played a huge part in the story. I mean all the lovey dovey between Squall Leonhart and Rinoa Heartilly (FFVIII), Zidane Tribal and Garnet Alexandria (FFIX) and the over exessive kissing scene in FFX between Tidus and Yuna where somehow they can continue kissing underwater for a whole 4 minutes plus. That kissing scene indicates that it is about time the plot changes. And in this FFXII, it changes.

Gone is the love scenes, say hello to political intrigue and massive war scenes with giant airship battles and scenes that seems very Star Wars like. You have a rebellious princess (like Princess Leia), a dashing pirate (like Hans Solo) who has a fury side-kick (like Chewbacca). Haha. No more kissing and bla bla love songs. Everybody say yay!! Including you, KenJay. (Hey, that rhymes). Yes, you can put delete that picture of Yuna in your phone and put in Fran's pic? Haha.

There was this forum that was comparing Yuna of Final Fantasy X and Ashe of Final Fantasy XII, seeing who is better.
"Ashe was created with better graphic power. Not fair" - Forummer
"Yuna is too innocent. Good, cause I can teach her a thing or two" - Forummer
Things people can talk about these days.

I have to get one of this. It is a Moogle! So cute!!!!

And FFXII has a teen rating for:
- Alcohol Reference
- Fantasy Violence (I don't get this.)
- Mild Language
- Partial Nudity (remember the Playboy bunnies)
- Suggestive Themes (Playboy bunnies again!! Guys just gotta love those bunnies)

Anyway, back to the real world... what am I planning to do with for the next 1++ month before I fly off to Brisbane?!!!!

PARTAAAAY!!!!

"With each passing day, the world finds new and exciting ways to kill a man."

- Balthier, Final Fantasy XII

Ok.. wat I am going to do will be handled in another post. Need to go play with Balthier again.
