Not so bored Rotation
Cos too bored!!!
Just came back from the God-forsaken town in Kuala Kubu Bahru, and guess what? It wasn't that bad as I expected. Maybe becos this time round, I had the whole debating team with me and you guys know how closely we are bonded, and this time, we did not have to study and instead play all day long!!!
So much for a Hospital Posting.
Ok, so how am I going to regale you on what happened there? Hmm... Going to be super short post as I just run briefly through the events of the day.
Sunday
Arrive and girls found themselves in a tight spot.
3 houses available for girls = 3 hse x 3 rooms x 2 per room = 18 girls.
Currently staying = 14 girls.
And I managed to grab the remaining 4 spots for the debaters. But then the other girls kicked up a big fuss with the Colonel in charge as they had to be shipped to the hostel.
So we finally came up with one solution that made every one happy.
2 houses that are side by side are made into a massive dorm.
2 hse x 3 rooms x 2 per room = 12 girls
Total no. of girls to accomodate = 19 girls,
So beds were pushed together and final sleeping condition:
2 hse x 3 rooms x THREE per room = 18 girls.
One room had four girls sleeping on 2 beds (it was scary how they can fit in)
After clearing up all the mess, we head out for dinner.
Dinner at 98 (This place only gets business when IMU student has rotations, hehe).
Night was spent playing Monopoly (Risk and Monopoly will be blogged on its own.)
Monday
Woke up at ungodly hour of 6.00am. Did a round of Tai Chi and then prepared to head to Klinik Kesihatan. Was a small kampung building, very hulu kind.
Elena: Well, at least they have flourescent tubes. I was expecting a single yellow bulb swinging.
And spent the whole 4 hours in the bilik rehat which had air-con room and talked and discussed a few medical things and sleep.
Afternoon was spent playing Risk and Monopoly. Was supposed to go up to Genting, but no one wanted so there.
Dinner: Barbeque!!! It was fun. Then there was this competition between sheena and me and it started with Sheena bringing a piece of chicken to her BF who was playing risk. And I followed up with a piece of chicken and a cup of punch of my BF. Then it was fishballs and sausages and what other what-nots.
Tuesday
In Serendah today, for 2 hours and then cabutted to stone at the house, like really stoned. Had to go for case presentation where half of the time I did not know what the hell was happening around me.
Football in the evening. It was fun with all the pushing around and grabbing for balls (yup ballS). Linda as goalkeeper was funny and so cute. Sheena in pissed off mood is not funny and not cute. Got bored and played volleyball with a FOOTBALL. Talk about painful.
The whole day was spent playing risk and monopoly again. Something went terribly wrong during risk, resulting in THE TALK between a pair of lovers. Se-ca-ry.
Wednesday
Posted in hospital, was supposed to clerk patients, but was too lazy. Did one quickly and went back to home to stone again. I'm not getting enuff sleep at night, I think. Or maybe I'm just too lazy, mwahaha.
In the evening headed out to hot spring at Ulu Yam, six of us (2 guys, 4 girls) all squeezed into Richard's new Kangoo. The journey was long.
YeeP: Are we there yet, Daddy? (talking to Richard)
2 seconds later, Sheena: Are we there yet, Papa? (talking to CK)
We were like one happy family in this mini-MPV, Daddy Richard is driving, Papa CK is giving directions, and their 4 cute daughters making noise in the backseats. What a typical GAY family.
And the discussion turned to whether homosexuals should adopt female daughters only or males. Well, we were saying gays should only adopt female children, cos being gays, they have higher tendencies towards boys, and this boy-kids may get molested. But then if you follow that chain of logic... Normal dads will have tendencies towards their daughters???!!! EWWWW!!!!
When we arrived, the all four girls were jumping excitedly, acting like small kids, screaming "Daddy daddy daddy!!! Papa papa papa!!!" Ok, maybe not screaming loudly, but loud enuff for some people to turn to see. Hehe..
We spent two hours at the hot spring. It was HOT!!! The five of them were like rendaming the legs only, I dived in. Yahoo!!! It feels so good... like all muscles are just melting away and leaving you so languid and lazy... The other girls were eating kuaci! EATING at the hot pool, and everyone was just looking at them. It was hilarious.
Night was left for Taboo and Mafia..
Thursday
Another boring day at the hospital and I "winged it". Agong's words, not sure what it meant at first. It went like this:
I clerked my patient who was admitted for subacute appendicitis and after that cabutted to have makan.
Then during presentation time, I was asked to present my case of her physical examination. Now, I only clerked my patient, I did not even touch my patient at all. So I went on and said: "Ok..." and bullshitted all the way to getting a Grade 3 out of four. Impressive bullshiting I would say.
Agong: I can't believe it, Elena, you completely winged it.
Evening was spent gossiping in a room before going to the waterfall with CK and Michelle. Found three girls who were willing to lead us down to the start of the river before we began trekking up river. Michelle wore shoes that did not have grip at all, was so hilarious with her screaming as she slide down the slope.
Brought back many sweet memories of first river trek in Form 1. Leeches!!! But fortunately, in KKB tak ada. No mosquitoes too, luckily.
And good things were DURIANS!!!! Love em, need em.
Night was spent in various games of risk, mafia, taboo and 20 questions game.
Friday
Last day of hospital posting. Everyone cabutted so fast, leaving very few ppl left. Alot of reporters around. I managed to sneak into the Forensics Unit and saw this chinese man (dead) in a blue shirt and black jacket. Looks rich, no sign of trauma what so ever. Was excited to watch the post mortem, but was chased out by the doctors. Kononnya family don't want us to see... what the???
Did not do much that day. Went home early and here I am blogging... sigh...
Interesting facts to cover.
1. Games we played (other than Risk and Monopoly)
Taboo
The game where you have to try to get your group to guess the word without using certain words.
For example:
.Word is postcard, you can't use MAIL, PICTURE, STAMP, VACATION, SEND.
Tough?
Here are some funny ways to get it done.
Word: Heart-throb
CK: I am a?
Word: Bimbo
CK:(pointing at all the girls) They are all?
Word: Spaghetti
CK: Sheena is very good in making this.
Richard: Love!
(CK is Sheena's boyfriend)
Word: Kiss
Elena: When I'm in the mood, I usually do this with my boyfriend.
Sheena: Fuck?
Word: Thunder
Shi Ching: The sky, the sky!!! (waving his hands about)
Word: Straight
Nadia: My hair is?
Girls: Split ends, smelly, rough!!
Or, being medical students, jargon is fine.
Word: Orthodontist
Elena: When the thing with enamel in your buccal is crooked, you see??
Word: Dream
Elena: REM!!
Word: Tongue
YeeP: Glottis!
Word: Red-eye
Richard: Conjunctivitis
Mafia
The game where everyone sleeps and mafias come out at night to hunt and doctors try to heal and a spy trying to catch a mafia.
Characters of the game:
Narrator - neutral, must not give away who is who as he/she will be the only one who knows who is who and must spice up game.
Mafias - first to wake up and kill someone
Doctors - next to wake up and heal someone
Spy - last to wake up and try to accuse someone
Civilians - everyone else who tries to defend emself.
A good way to describe the game would be to play it.
The game starts with the Narrator who introduces the game and starts of the game.
Narrator: There was once a village of Kampung Durian Busuk. The villagers goes to sleep. The mafia wakes up.
(Mafia chooses his/her victim)
Narrator: The mafia sleeps, the doctor wakes up.
(Doctor tries to guess who was killed and chooses to heal)
Narrator: The doctor sleeps, the spy wakes up.
(Spy points to someone he/she thinks is killer. Narrator nods or shake head to verify)
Narrator: Spy sleeps and the town wakes up.
If the doctor fails to save the victim, Narrator: It has been a bloody night, Mr. ____ as been bashed by a durian during his sleep (or something to that extent)
If the doctor saved the victim, Narrator: It has been a peaceful night, except for some farts and snores.
The civilians will then debate who is the mafia and hangs the mafia. But if you guess wrongly, too bad la. Game goes on till the mafia dies or civilians dies. Cool game.
Certain things not do:
Narrator, don't give any information what so ever about the mafia, doctor, spy.
Scenario: Got 2 doctors, one died already.
Sarah: The mafias sleep, the doctor...zzz wakes up.
Scenario: Start of the game
Sheena: The medical student turned killer chooses her victim. Satisfying her blood lust, she goes back to bed.
(The mafia is a girl, duh!)
Mafias, don't give yourself away by supporting your other mafia friends.
Scenario: Vasan is tried and murdered. But we still don't know whether he Mafia or not.
Richard: Look, Vasan is the mafia, fine. Don't drag me in with that bimbo.
Elena: How you know Vasan is mafia unless you are mafia yourself.
20 question games
Weird game of thinking of a person and then let the others try to guess the person by them asking 20 questions.
Example:
I thought of a person and they ask the questions.
Is it a male? No.
Is she malaysian? Yes.
Is she studying in IMU? Yes.
Is she our batch? Yes.
Is she pretty? Erm... should be yes.
Is she... listed down nearly all the girls in our batch?
Sheena: Oh wait. (gives me that look) Is she Elena?
Elena: YES!!!
Weird game, but had fun trying to guess different people. Can be quite tough, but nice.
Is it a male? No.
Is she malaysian? Yes.
Is she in IMU? Yes.
Is she a lecturer? Yes.
Is she Chinese? Yes.
Elena: Is she fat? Yes
Guess who?
Next important issue: DINNER
This is the menu of our dinner for everyday. You'll be wondering why the hell am I doing this, but there is a reason, just check out the menu.
Sunday: Champagne Pork-Rib, Guiness Stout Chicken, Kangkung Belacan, Steamed Egg, Apple Tofu.
Monday: Barbeque
Tuesday: Champagne Pork-Rib, Guiness Stout Chicken, Kangkung Belacan, Steamed Egg, Claypot Tofu, some veggie.
Wednesday: Guiness Stout Chicken, Kangkung Belacan, Steamed Egg
Thursday: Guiness Stout Chicken, Kangkung Belacan, Steamed Egg, Butter Sotong, Prawns.
Noticed our menu? It was an excellent meal, and we eat full full for only RM7.00. Super cheap compared to KL. And food is good too. I probably miss the food only.
And thus end my post on the Hospital Posting. It had been interesting while it lasted, having fun and fun and the freedom of no parents, no studying, no nagging, nothing but stoning and games through the day. Fresh air, quiet environment. Not bad, not bad.
Good life, good food, good friends... what else do I need?
Sheena: It's only nostalgia. Stay here for a few more days, you'll soon get bored too.
Yup. I'll get bored cos no computers, no PS2, no air-con... I'm satisfied that it was just a vacation. Not bad not bad...
The scent remains, even if everything is gone.
It stays deeply in one's memory forever.
